Anderson Comás

Pitcher, Chicago White Sox Minor League

Anderson Comás is a professional baseball player, currently signed and playing with the Chicago White Sox minor league affiliate, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers.

Comás is the second known player to come out as gay while actively affiliated with an MLB organization. He was originally signed to the White Sox at 16 years old.

In an Instagram post right before he reported to 2023 spring training, Comás announced he was gay, stating he wanted to be an inspiration. “To those people that say that gay people can not be someone in this life, well, look at me. I’m gay and I’m a professional athlete so that didn’t stopped me to make my dreams come true,” Comás wrote.

White Sox assistant general manager and director of player development Chris Getz issued a statement of support in response, adding that he “was very pleased that (Comás) was comfortable sharing with us in player development. I also was happy at the reaction across the organization, which as you would expect was to support, help and congratulate a teammate.”

Anderson is taking his story on the road this coming off season. From his upbringing in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to the professional baseball fields in the United States, Anderson has a compelling, motivating, and emotional story to share. He details what it was like to come out in the workplace (one where only a handful in history have come out), his family and teammates reactions, and how living as his true authentic self has changed his life.
